충북대학교 사범대학 국어교육과 교수. 판소리 문학을 중심으로 하여 고전소설과 구비문학을 함께 연구하고 있다. 저서로 『판소리 사설의 연원과 변모』 『흥부전 연구』 『전통 구비문학과 근대 공연예술』 1, 2, 3(공저) 등이 있다.
