컴퓨테이셔널 저널리즘이 언론계와 학계, 사회 전반에 널리 회자되고 있다. 근본적으로는 데이터 저널리즘과 비슷한 말이다. 학술적으로 어떻게 보느냐, 어떻게 정립하느냐의 차이다. 최근에는 빅데이터 저널리즘이라는 용어도 등장하고 있다. 무엇보다 정확한 개념 정의와 적용 원리의 정리가 필요하다. 그래야 위기에 처해 있는 언론계에도 대안적 길을 열어 줄 수 있고, 학계에도 새로운 함의를 줄 수 있을 것이다. 이 책에서는 컴퓨테이셔널 저널리즘의 개념, 원리, 적용, 방법론을 통해 현주소와 미래 방향을 도출한다. 한국적 컴퓨테이셔널 저널리즘 모델의 원형을 발견할 수 있다.

신동희
성균관대학교 인터랙션사이언스학과 정교수이며 인터랙션연구소 소장과 BK21플러스사업(인터랙션)단장으로 일하고 있다. 성균관대학교의 SKKU 펠로(2011)이며 한국연구재단의 우수학자로 선정되었다(2014). 한국언론학회, 한국HCI학회, 미디어경영학회, 정보통신정책학회, 한국정보사회학회에서 이사를 역임하고 있다. 미국 캘리포니아대학교 버클리캠퍼스 교환교수를 역임했다(2015∼2016). Journal of Computer-Mediated Communications, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Telecommunications Policy, Computers in Human Behaviors, Information Processing & Management, Information Technology and People, International Journal of Mobile Communications, Info, Human-Computer Interaction 등의 국제저널 편집위원이다. 인간-컴퓨터 상호작용, 디지털미디어, 정보통신 정책·경영, 스마트 콘텐츠 분야의 연구를 수행하고 있다.
