제주에 사는 두 꼬맹이들의 소소한 일상과 그들을 바라보며 성장해가는 나의 이야기이다. 저자의 첫 번째 이야기 ‘함께라서 행복해’에서 세상 아기아기하던 봄이가 1년을 조르고 또 조른 끝에 얻은 동생 여름이, 동생을 만난 뒤론 너무나 의젓한 누나 봄이가 되었다. 동생 이름을 여름이로 지으니 주변에선 가을이 겨울이도 낳는 거냐며 기대들을 해주시지만, 여름이를 세상 밖으로 탈출시키며 난 다짐했다. ‘민영아, 지금 이 고통을 기억해 절대로 무슨 일이 있어도 망각하지 마! 너에게 셋째는 없어!’ 그리하여 다수의 기대를 저버리고 여름이의 백일 무렵 가을이 겨울이는 강아지 동생들이 자리를 메꾸어주었다. 둘째는 사랑이라더니 사랑 중의 참 사랑이다. 그 사랑을 바라보는 첫째의 눈을 보고 있노라면 이런 게 행복이구나를 느끼는 요즘 오늘도 봄여름 덕분에 행복한 하루였음을 기록하여본다.
