두 사람의 시선이 얽혀들었다. 익상의 눈이 미끄러지듯 발갛게 상기된 뺨과 콧등의 작은 주근깨를 거쳐 밭은 숨을 내쉬는 입술로 내려와 얼어붙은 듯 그대로 멈추어버렸다.
숨이 턱턱 막혀왔다. 이대로 입술을 훔쳐버리고 싶은 강렬한 욕망에 숨을 쉴 수가 없었다. 점점 더 그녀를 향한 욕심이 억누를 수 없을 만큼 강해지고 있다는 의미였다.
알고 싶었다. 그녀도 자신처럼 숨이 막히고 혈관을 내달리는 피가 불타는 것처럼 뜨거운지. 그 뜨거운 피가 모인 심장이 펄떡펄떡 물 밖으로 나온 물고기처럼 뛰어대며 숨이 가쁘게 솟구치는지.
“……알아봐야겠다.”
“뭘…… 말입니까?”
“내가 남색인지 아닌지.”
“무슨 말씀이신지 못 알아듣겠습니다.”
아니, 무슨 말인지 알 수 있을 것도 같았다.
“지금 네 입술을 뺏고 싶은 내가, 남색인지 아닌지 그것을 알아보겠다는 말이야.”
