Deeply moving story of love and family Silas needs a nanny when he finds himself in over his head with his grieving niece. Paloma fears getting attached to her charges again so she doesn't want to work as a nanny, but the financial burden of caring for her mother gives her little choice. Watching her first interaction with Beatrix as inspiring. I really liked that the storyline took the role of nanny seriously, making Paloma a professional who really understands how to reach children and works to take care of the whole child. The romance was by necessity a slow-burn, as both of them had to put Beatrix's needs first, but when Silas finally decided to do something, I thought his approach was brilliant. There were complications along the way, both on her side and his, and I loved how the author worked it all out in the end. This was a beautifully written romance with all the emotional highs and lows and a very satisfying HEA. The epilogue set up the characters for the next installment in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is an emotional story with the three main characters trying to cope with their changed family situations. With the death of his estranged sister Silas is guardian of the niece he never knew he had. He's from a very dysfunctional family and has baggage from his ex-wife. Paloma wanted a new beginning, but her mother's illness and costly treatment throws a wrench in those plans. The story is well written, told chapter-wise from the point of view of either Silas or Paloma. Paloma's distrust of Silas's intentions regarding Trixie's birth father was a bit annoying. The hockey details are limited, so if you're not into sports stories, you can still give this a try. This story had me thinking of the many COVID orphans. May they also have a happy end. I read a free advance copy and I am voluntarily leaving this review. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I thought this was a wonderful read. Heat and angst flow thickly throughout this engaging story that hits you with a major case of The Feels, and definitely gives your heat a workout. Frankly, I found it impossible not to love these characters my heart seriously ached for them. The romance blossoming here is amazing and when paired with the family drama, pain of loss, the challenge of change and simply having to endure the many twists that life decides to toss your way, honestly elevates this book to a whole other level. Simply put, this was just a terrific book and a great start to this new series that has me super excited for more. This is my unbiased, unsolicited review.
