And so she did, becoming one of the pioneers of aviation. Not only was Amelia the first woman in the world to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, she was the first person to cross it twice. Mona Kerby (www.monakerby.com) has been a Kindergarten teacher, school librarian, professor, and the coordinator of the graduate School Library Media Program at McDaniel College. She has published a variety of books which have been nominated to several state reading award lists.
