An introductory course on analog and digital communications is fundamental to the undergraduate program in electrical engineering. This course is usually offered at the junior level. Typically, it is assumed that the student has a background in calculus, electronics, signals and systems, and possibly probability theory.

Bearing in mind the introductory nature of this course, a textbook recommended for the course must be easy to read, accurate, and contain an abundance of insightful examples, problems, and computer experiments. These objectives of the book are needed to expedite learning the fundamentals of communication systems at an introductory level and in an effective manner. This book has been written with all of these objectives in mind.

Given the mathematical nature of communication theory, it is rather easy for the reader to lose sight of the practical side of communication systems. Throughout the book, we have made a special effort not to fall into this trap. We have done this by moving through the treatment of the subject in an orderly manner, always trying to keep the mathematical treatment at an easy-to-grasp level and also pointing out practical relevance of the theory wherever it is appropriate to do so.

Mr. S. Ramesh Babu his B.Tech in ECE G Pulla Reddy Engineering College Kurnool, Sri Krishna Devaraya University, Ananthapuram, April 1996. M.Tech (ECE-ICS) Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University, Kakinada, Aug, 2010. Pursuing (PhD) JNTUH, Kukatpally, Hyderabad. He is presently working as an Associate Professor of ECE in Malla Reddy Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad. He has 20 years of teaching experience and 08 years of experience in research in wireless communications and guided 10 M.E./M.Tech. And 20 B.E./B.Tech projects. He is a review and editorial member for various International Journals. Mr Ramesh Babu authored 25 publications in International / National Journals and Conferences. Conducted and attended 18 workshops. His research interest areas are wireless communications, wireless Networks, Networks security, Embedded Systems.

Dr.S.Prabhakara Rao completed his B.E in ECE from Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad, Osmania University, and Hyderabad, September, 1991. M.E.(ECE-Communication Systems), C.B.I.T., Hyderabad, Osmania University, Hyderabad, June, 2005. Completed his PhD in ECE from JNTUH, Kukatpally, and Hyderabad in Oct, 2018. He is presently working as a Professor of ECE in Joginpally B.R.Engineering College, Hyderabad. He has 25 years of teaching experience and 15 years of research and he guided 25 M.E./M.Tech., and 35 B.E./B.Tech projects. He is a review and editorial member for various International Journals. Dr S Prabhakara Rao authored 30 publications in International / National Journals and Conferences. Published 06 Books and 07 Patents are published. He conducted and attended 25 workshops. His research interest areas are wireless communications, wireless Networks, Networks security, Embedded Systems.

Mr. Jyothula Sunil Kumar completed B.Tech in ECE from Anurag Engineering College, Kodad, JNTU Hyderabad in 2005. M.Tech (Systems and Signal Processing) from JNTUH College of Engineering, Hyderabad. Pursuing Ph.D. from JNTUA, Anantapur. He is presently working as an Assistant Professor of ECE in Malla Reddy Engineering College, Hyderabad. He has 15 years of teaching experience and 06 years of experience in research in Image Processing and guided 6 M.E./M.Tech. and 15 B.E./B.Tech projects. Mr Ramesh Babu authored 8 publications in International / National Journals and Conferences. Conducted 3 workshops on MATLAB Simulink. His research interest areas are Machine Learning, Image Processing, and Embedded Systems. 

Mr. Sahebgoud H. Karaddi completed B.E. in ECE from R.L. Jalappa Institute of Technology, VTU Belagaum in 2012. M.Tech (Communication Systems) from PDA College of Engineering, Gulbarga. He has 7 years of teaching experience. He has published 9 papers in various national and international journals and conferences. He also has two patent publications. His research interest are Image processing, machine and deep learning, Electromagnetics.
