Anne Renwick’s “A Ghost in Amber: A Steampunk Romance” (An Elemental Steampunk Tale Book 5) This is my first steampunk genre and I have to admit I enjoyed the story. Lady Diana Starr and Lord Leo Wraxall have so much in common and hit off from the get go. This is a sweet, sexy romance with a bit of mystery.

A romance, a ghost, a murder, and mystery! All on All Hallows’ Eve! I’ve loved all of Anne Renwick’s books! She has a way of making intelligent steampunk romance come to vibrant life! How could one resist searching for lost snail research in an old library with more than meets the eye! I don’t want to reveal too much and ruin the surprise!

I love this world so very much. It’s the only place I know that so skillfully blends science fantasy with science fact, that every time I surface from a story I’m shocked to discover that the technological and medical marvels within aren’t a reality as they’re portrayed in the book I’ve just finished. I’m so glad to see that Diana and Leo continue the author’s tradition of pairing a smart and spunky heroine who isn’t about to be anybody’s damsel in distress with a hero who happens to be noble, capable, and vulnerable. They face challenges that require wit and intelligence more than any physical strength. And the villains they encounter aren’t in the least bit typical. My only regret is that this book is over already. I would happily spend many more hours getting to know Diana and Leo and learning more about the rest of the breakthroughs they discover. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

About the author

ANNE RENWICK holds a Ph.D. in biology and greatly enjoyed tormenting the overburdened undergraduates who were her students, fiction has always been her first love. Today, she writes steampunk romance, placing a new kind of biotech in the hands of mad scientists, proper young ladies and determined villains.

Anne brings an unusual perspective to steampunk. A number of years spent locked inside the bowels of a biological research facility left her permanently altered. In her steampunk world, the Victorian fascination with all things anatomical led to a number of alarming biotechnological advances. Ones that the enemies of Britain would dearly love to possess.
