About this ebook

Marnie Edwards thinks she has her life together. Then State Trooper Scott Randall starts asking mysterious questions at the same time she learns her mother has been hospitalized with cancer. When a bedside confession reveals she was adopted, suddenly Scott's investigation into child-trafficking becomes personal. Every time Scott turns around, he learns Marnie has something to do with his current investigation. Finding himself falling for the beguiling, strong-willed brunette isn't helping, especially when he's still nursing the wounds of his failed marriage. When he and Marnie find themselves thrown together to help a pregnant teen who's being blackmailed into giving up her baby, they have to figure out what's important and who they are to each other, before it's too late.

Marnie Edwards' mother is diagnosed with leukemia. When she goes to donate blood, she learns that she is not a match. Her father reluctantly tells her she was adopted 45 years ago when she was an infant. State Trooper Scott Randall is investigating the possibility of a child trafficking ring in his county. One of Marnie's students is a pregnant teen who's being blackmailed into giving up her baby. "They" are threatening her two younger sisters with harm if she tells anyone, especially the police. Ultimately Scott and Randal find themselves mutually attracted to each other, even as they work together to find who's responsible for the threats. The child trafficking might even go back decades as no one knows who Marnie's birth mother is ... and why she abandoned her baby. This is a well-written story full of romance, suspense, and a few twists and turns along the way. Not all is smooth - sailing for Scott and Randall. They each have issues and tossing a troubled teenage girl , as well as her boyfriend, into the mix only creates more suspense and angst. The characters are fully developed, and they all relate to each other beautifully. Many thanks to the author / Wild Rose Press / Netgalley for the digital copy of this Romantic Suspense.
