As much as we’d like to believe that we own our lives, it is life that owns us. Life, it walks into the human heart, entangles and propels it to travel unknown paths, and carves a story for each individual – a story that is sometimes forgotten, a story that is silently lived, or a story that may remain buried in the deep corners of our hearts forever like a stabbing truth. ‘Beyond Contours’ comprises real-life stories built around relationships that grow in an amoebic manner, beyond perceived premises; the unrecognized, unstructured and misunderstood relationships that sometimes become more of our lives than the one we choose for ourselves. ‘Beyond Contours’ aims to be a companion for anyone seeking to unravel life through the prism of relationships. The stories will linger on long after you’ve read them. You may find parts of yourself in the stories, and wonder about the only thing inevitable in life, the uncertainty and unpredictability of it.

Alka Singh started her career as a media professional but gave it all up to be with her son in his growing up years and to follow her passion for writing. Born and brought up in Darjeeling, her hometown never left her heart although she spent ten years of her life working in Delhi and Mumbai. The distant call of the mountains remains etched in her writing, either in the place or the lives she chooses to write about. Alka has a special affinity for writing poetry and has published a collection of poems titled Hushed Hues’ by Creative Publishers. Beyond Contours is her second book and her first exploring story-writing. Alka lives in Chennai with her husband and son.
