About this ebook

Meet the Kincade brothers: they’ll do what it takes to protect their legacy—but what happens when love gets in the way?

Hockey star Jordan Kincade wasted no time ditching Sunshine Valley and everyone who mattered for a career in the NHL—a truth Jordan confronts when his parents’ deaths bring him home. Now he’s back to make amends, which begins with keeping his younger sister from flunking out of school. It’s just his luck that the one person who can help is the girl whose heart he broke years ago.

Lucy Diamond has racked up a number of monumental mistakes in her life, the first involving a certain blue-eyed charmer. She has no intention of falling for Jordan Kincade again, but when he shows up asking her to help one of her students, Lucy just can’t say no. Worse, the longer he’s back, the more she sees how much he’s changed. And so when a blistering kiss turns to more, she can’t help but wonder if her heart will be crushed again . . . or if she’ll discover true love with a better man.

The title fits this book so well. Right off you can get the connection between the title and the message in the book. Jordan wants to be a better man not just for his family, but for the girl he blew it with 15 years ago. I can tell you I'm already hooked on this series with book one and I look forward to more in this series. The family goes through a tragedy, but with that the siblings may just find their path back to one another. I really liked Lucy. She has a big heart even with what she endured in her past. She doesn't believe anyone would take a second look at her, but when you see how she looks through Jordan's eyes you'll fall instantly for the guy. He may not be perfect, but who is. The biggest thing that is in his favor he that he tries and puts forth effort on anything he does. Right there makes him great hero material. You see a family trying to find their way again and they have a tough time with their little sister. Watching the relationship build between her and Jordan is one of my favorite parts in the book. This book intrigued me right from the blurb because Jordan's a hockey player and some of the setting in the book takes place at the family owned winery. Then once I opened the book and started reading I was sucked right into the story. I highly recommend this one and look forward to more books by this author.

There are so many things we take for granted. Young people believe they are invincible and can conquer whatever life throws at them. I think everyone believes that those they love are indestructible as well. We know in our hearts these things are figments of our imagination but feel if we hope long enough and pray hard enough that it will become a reality. Jordan is just like every other person. I received an ARC of A Better Man in exchange for an honest review. I loved how Ms. Terry contrasted between the man that he was and the one he wanted to become. The people around him served two fold purposes to challenge him and to remind him of what he left behind. The reason that these characters and this scenario touched my heart most of all is that the decisions Jordan made in his past set him on the path to accepting his future. They taught him lessons that allowed him to mature and that is what made him a better man. Copyright of Night Owl Reviews

I was so excited that the day finally arrived to read the new series, Sunshine Creek by Candis Terry. I'm already in love with this small town and the Kincaid family. A second chance romance between hockey player, Jordan and school teacher, Lucy. Lucy was Jordan's tutor in high school, whom he stood up for senior prom. Jordan returns home after a family tragedy, only to find out Lucy is youngest sister, Nicole's teacher. Jordan has his hands full with his team, rebellious Nicole, the family winery and proving his love to Lucy. Loved the family dynamics, Jordan really stepped up to be Nicole's brother. The chemistry between Lucy and Jordan is hot along with great banter. Jordan is so patient with Nicole and Lucy. Can't wait for more of the Kincaid brothers. I highly recommend this book!!
