Unpopular at school and subjected to her mother's religious fanaticism at home, Carrie White does not have it easy. But while she may be picked on by her classmates, she has a gift she's kept secret since she was a little girl: she can move things with her mind. Doors lock. Candles fall. Her ability has been both a power and a problem. And when she finds herself the recipient of a sudden act of kindness, Carrie feels like she's finally been given a chance to be normal. She hopes that the nightmare of her classmates' vicious taunts is over . . . but an unexpected and cruel prank turns her gift into a weapon of horror so destructive that the town may never recover.

SO I bought the book, but I somehow got the 144 page version, and not the original 199 page version Like I thought I had. Mine has the cover from the 2013 movie remake. Well I thought the book was okay, I didn't like the back and fourth with many lines starting and ending in parenthesis. I thought it was a distraction, and I thought the transitions from character to character was a little annoying. I thought he could have segued better. I also found some typos too, and I'd give it around a 75 out of a 100. I might find it better to read the additional pages that I don't have. Maybe they would make it better.

Book is great and must read. One star is because of Google Play Store not the book. Why is the books in playstore is more expensive then kindle? Aren't they the same ebooks? This one here is about $7 and kindle is selling it at about $4. Similar difference I have seen for many other books. Now that Google launched the books I thought I will migrate to Google from Kindle but I don't think with such cost difference.

As my first book that I read from Stephen King - I simply love Stephen's horror. We see Carrie's fate in the end, and how it was portrayed, with her relationship with Sue Snell. Damn... it was really touching. We don't only see why she was doing all of the things she did, but also how her mind deteriorated gradually. A great piece by a great author.
