About this ebook

Each night at precisely 4:33 am, while sixteen-year-old London Lane is asleep, her memory of that day is erased. In the morning, all she can "remember" are events from her future. London is used to relying on reminder notes and a trusted friend to get through the day, but things get complicated when a new boy at school enters the picture. Luke Henry is not someone you'd easily forget, yet try as she might, London can't find him in her memories of things to come.

When London starts experiencing disturbing flashbacks, or flash-forwards, as the case may be, she realizes it's time to learn about the past she keeps forgetting-before it destroys her future.

A War of the Past and Future. Have you ever wanted to forget the past and know what your future holds? In Cat Patrick’s Forgotten, London Lane, a high school student cannot remember her past without sticky notes to remind her of important events and her best friend Jaime. But London has a secret she can see the future! When a new and intriguing boy, Luke, shows up at her school she falls for him but she cannot see him in her future. Cat Patrick wants readers to think to contemplate whether knowing the future is really important or if learning from the past and accepting what was is what we should be thankful for. Cat Patrick drew inspiration from her own tragedy of forgetting everything and having to retrace her own steps which is exactly what London has to experience everyday of her life. She uses these experiences of her own to bring the story of London and her kindling love life into a real world perspective that can be believable when she takes a simple situation of London losing herself with Luke and falling asleep to end up waking up with no recollection of what had happened or who the strange boy was. The events that occur through the novel depict situations that could very well be real and happen to anyone who struggles with memory loss. Patrick’s use of real life situations with a slight twist on them can really hit home with teenage girls who want the love and connection London and Luke share and can relate to at least one of the events like struggling with divorced parents, being taken advantage of because of a weakness, and even fighting with a best friend. This becomes very appealing to any young lady who desires a good romance book with added drama and surprises that make you sympathetic towards London’s memory losses but also grateful that you have the ability to remember your past. Because of the romantic themes throughout the novel I would encourage readers who enjoy the writing of Sara Dessen to read this book. The writing style is very similar in that it is believable and you can relate to the sub-plots scattered in the novel. The romance is tastefully done and very appropriate for all ages and leaves you with a higher standard when looking for Mr. Perfect in your own life. Though the end left me wanting more, it began to grow on me as I thought about how important our memories are to us as humans. Forgotten by Cat Patrick is a wonderful book that strongly emphasizes readers to enjoy and embrace the past because, “…what I need to remember most is this: I can always change the future.” A person’s past is the foundation to their character and without those past memories and experiences life is hard and very mysterious with blurred edges and many questions that might never be answered. The future is being rewritten all the time because of our past and reading about London and how difficult her life had been made me as a reader realize how precious our memories are.
