About this ebook

“My go to author for sexy romance.” #1 NYT’S Bestselling author Lauren Blakely.

I didn’t want to ask him for a favor.

He was the cockiest hockey player I knew.

And my brother’s best friend.

But I needed to learn about the game, and he was down with a concussion.

I didn’t realize he had an agenda of his own.

One that involved showing me his off-ice plays.

I should have said no.

Should have kept things in the central zone.

But one sweet taste was a game changer, and the only words on my lips were yes.

Until a lifetime of secrets spilled out…

I love a good enemies to lovers story. I especially love when it's an older brother's best friend romance. The history, the intense feels, and the steam. Sigh. (I'm fanning myself for a minute here.) The Playmaker is all that and more. Old feelings and new beginnings. Plus it's hockey! Hot hockey player! Need I say more!?! Pretty BallerNina and her Cocky Cannon kept me smiling, smirking, and wanting more. It's going to be so much fun enjoying the rest of this series!

4.5 of 5 Stars Cathryn Fox lights the lamp with THE PLAYMAKER, the first book in the Players on Ice series. Writer Nina Callaghan asks her childhood nemesis/ brother’s best friend, Cole Cannon, for hockey lessons. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences. The story takes place in Seattle. Cathryn Fox does a great job with her character development and plot. I like Nina. She was a figure skater until she had a career-ending injury. Now she is a romance writer. Her brother, Cason, is in the NHL, so her editor tasks her with writing a hockey romance series. Ironically, she knows nothing about hockey. Therefore, she turns to her brother's best friend/NHL Center, Cole Cannon, who is out due to a concussion. Nina thinks that Cole hates her because he always teased her when they were kids, in reality, he had a crush on her, but she is his best friend’s sister, so she is off limits. THE PLAYMAKER is a fun and entertaining story. Cole and Nina have great chemistry. My heart went out to both, and some of the things that they went through. I love that they are given this opportunity to reconnect and open to each other. Cathryn Fox does a great job laying out their history. There were a lot of interesting scenes and obstacles that the characters faced. The novel was skillfully written and heartwarming. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

More often than not with romance novels, I find myself loving the male protagonist, but annoyed and frustrated with the female protagonist. This was not the case...both Cole and Nina were incredibly written characters, and their story is one I will be reading again!
