About this ebook

To unlock his past, it’ll take more than a little bit of luck…

What has Joanna Wilcox gotten herself into? She needed an extra hand to fix some broken fences on her alpaca farm, and her cousin sent someone over to help. Now she can’t seem to take her eyes off that “someone” — those capable hands, those ice-blue eyes…not to mention the way he fills out his jeans.

Randall Lenz, ex-government agent and brand-new warlock, should be the last man to send that tingling sensation across Joanna's skin. But when he won’t take payment for the work, she finds herself offering the next best thing: a home-cooked meal.

The Wilcox clan took Randall in when a lightning strike awakened his power, and he plans to repay their kindness by living a quiet life…which means not getting involved with a Wilcox witch. But Joanna’s offer of a hot meal isn’t the only thing making his mouth water.

One kiss ignites the need they’ve both been trying to ignore, but their relationship is barely off the ground when Randall disappears — and Joanna suspects it’s more than a case of cold feet. It’s a secret that proves lightning does, indeed, strike twice….

This is Randall Lenz and Joanna Wilcox’s story. I am kind of on the fence regarding these characters. Randall Lenz was a villain in previous “The Witches of Wheeler Park” books and I knew going in having him as the romantic hero would be a tough sell for me. Joanna’s character seemed to change also from previous encounters. I expected her to continue as a tough, no nonsense member of the Wilcox family. The backstory for both of these characters explained a lot about how they react to each other and what their respective families throw at them. Christine Pope does a good job with fleshing out their backgrounds and while it made the transition to their current actions and reactions more believable it was still hard for me to reconcile. So while this was an okay addition to the series it was my least favorite so far.

Blood Ties is the sixth book in the Witches of Wheeler Park series. This book focuses on Joanna Wilcox and Randall Lenz. We get a different look at these two in this book compared to previous encounters throughout the series. It was interesting to see Randall as we knew him to be a villain. I enjoyed this book, it was nice to learn more about Randall. I am not crazy about the current trend of redeeming villains to make them heroes, but Christine did a good job. I was able to understand Randall and his motives just a bit more and see what makes him tick. This is another read by Christine that I enjoyed. I did receive an ARC to review.

Book 6 can be read alone, but it is much better after reading the previous books in the series. This is a very romantic story, fated mates find each other after almost giving up hope. A fast attraction between Joanna Wilcox and Randall Lenz blossoms to a full relationship. Now their concern is how Connor, Addie, and Jake, and the rest of the Wilcox clan will react. But Lenz is kidnapped by Greta Van Horn, his aunt. He learns his mother died in childbirth. Greta's son, Karl, and his wife, Laura; her daughter Victoria, the prima-in-waiting, and her husband Neil are introduced at dinner but none are very welcoming. He finds he's inherited a fortune and a house and gets to reunite with his adoptive mother. Joanna travels to New York to visit Kelly Dawson, Randall's PA from his previous job, hoping she can track down Randall. There are many surprises and unexpected plot twists while she and Randall are in New York until the story finally ends happily ever after.
