Covers a spectrum from excision hip arthroplasty to computer assisted hip replacement and topics dealing with hip replacements in dysplastic hips, proximal femoral deformities with an overview of total hip replacement in patients with neuromuscular abnormalities. It covers surgical principles and implant selection on the topic like patients with previous fractures about the hip, severe hip dysplasia, tumors involving the hip. Each chapter provides the reader with a complete review of the pathological problems to be encountered, a rationale for preoperative planning and correction of bony and soft tissue abnormality and discussion of implant options. The author have tried to analyze difficulty in performing surgery in situations such as avascular necrosis of femoral head, fractures, failed fixations, tumors and protrusion. In addition the authors have expressed their views in tackling the challenges in osteoporotic situations, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis and infections. This book is helpful for postgraduates medical students and orthopaedic surgeons.
