About the author

Deddy Mulyana is a Professor of Communication Studies and the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Science, Padjadjaran University, Jatinangor, West Java, Indonesia. He received his Bachelor's degree from the Department of Jounalism, Padjadjaran University, Indonesia (1981); his Master's degree from the Department of Communication Studies, Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, USA (1986), and his Ph.D. from the Department of Anthropoly and Sociology, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia (1996). He has written over 30 books, dozens of journal articles, and hundreds of columns in newspapers and magazines.
