Selena and Jadis on a rare day off from the Kindred Spirits Inn (owned by Selena's Witchy Aunt's Blair and Kiki) take a walk into the town of Starfall. Only to discover that a body has been found on the grounds of prospective mayor Leo Blackwood. The girls try to find out more information and bump into an out of town reporter, Zoe Clarke (the heroine from the authors Moon Grove series) Zoe knows the deceased, she hired her, to investigate a cult that was thought to have been disbanded by Zoe, but word is that they are starting to come together again. Zoe and Jadis hit it off and agree to work together to find out more. With Jadis visions and Zoe's ability to read thoughts they should have this case rapped up in no time... Right? A great entry to the series, Lily Webb brings Zoe to Kindred Spirits and her chatty familiar cat Lune (though with out Beau and twins Ellie and Blaise, ) Kindred Spirits own imps Lox and Keez make a great humorous interlude into what is a complicated, dangerous case, featuring an old adversary of Zoe. Well planned plot that anyone can enjoy, you do not need to have read Zoe's series to enjoy this book (though if you haven't read the Moon Grove series, it is well worth reading) I would have given 5 stars but I did think the conclusion was all a bit rushed and left incomplete no explanations as to why something that effected all other characters. I also had unfinished questions though maybe they will be addressed in future books as I am sure this will not be the last we hear of the cult. No one that powerful and rich will allow jail to hold them,

The team from Kindred Spirits have found themselves teamed up with a notorious with from another town. The path that is taken uncover the clues in order to solve the mystery is beyond what I could have imagined for anyone. I would have loved to have seen more interaction from the other team members at Kindred Spirit, especially Jadis. discovering a new power or skill can be a good thing. Selena has had many surprises on that front, and some of them have been timely. Her control is not perfect, but growing. Lucky for her, intention plus desperation seems to go pretty far for her Some mysterious activities and political brouhahas seem to indicate that the Brotherhood Selena and friends thought had been subdued might not be done yet. Regrouping? Lying low to strike devastatingly later? only time will tell In the interim Selena and old and new friends and family will continue to face crazy imps, and convoluted crimes I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
