#1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz’s brilliantly thrilling novel of suspense.
In the midst of a raging blizzard, lightning struck on the night Laura Shane was born. And a mysterious blond-haired stranger showed up just in time to save her from dying.
Years later, in the wake of another storm, Laura will be saved again. For someone is watching over her. Is he the guardian angel he seems? The devil in disguise? Or the master of a haunting destiny beyond all time and space?

Out doesn't matter what the subject is, or how the plot plays out; Koontz's novels leave me uncomfortable and claustrophobic. Bits of the ones I've read all blend together - lightning and talking dogs and time-traveling Nazis and the gardener(?) or groundsman(?) who hid and watched young girls, then did ugly things... That's what I remember of his books. Even right now, just thinking of the parts that stayed with me, I want to change my shirt because the collar suddenly is too tight and one sleeve seems more narrow than the other.

Its a gripping tale of love, loss, and abuse. Add some time travel and a love for ceramic frogs you have an intriguing story that I couldn't put down. Read the book when I was way too young but still enjoyed it. Reread as an adult and found it even more compelling. Its a bit grim at times and definitely has some triggers for those who have panic attacks due to past traumas. Great book but read at your own risk.

Far and away my favorite Dean Koontz novel. I pull it out and reread it every couple of years.
