This is the poignant love story of Ailis, a Dark Fae, and Lennox, King of Dragon Kings. Ailis travels to Earth before humans when dragons ruled and meets Lennox. They fall in love but must keep Ailis and their love hidden because the dragons will never accept her, a different species. One can't help but feel the bittersweetness of it all. Hopefully, their daughter Melisse's upcoming story (mentioned in the preface) will reveal a long, rich lifetime of love between her parents. Recommended.

Ever since finding out about Melisse in the orginial series THIS particular story about how all of it came to be has been on my mind. Now getting to see how her parents met and their love came to be their story has been gripping to say the least. I love that we got to go back to the beginning of humans and Dragon Kings and see how it shaped the world that our favorites live in right now. Can't wait to see what other stories we read in this world
