Penny Reid shows us, once again, she's a genius, a hard worker, a talented author, a beautiful soul, an amazing story teller... She created a whole family, with several brothers and one sister, all of them smart and funny and generous, but each one has her/ his own personas and uniqueness. And she gave them partners the same qualities. None of them fit in boxes made by society but hey normal is boring! If you're a fan of Penny as i am you know what i mean! It's always a real pleasure to go back in Green Valley. It feels familiar, like we belong there among all those colorful figures, like we belong to the Winston family. Each book brings surprises, suspens, LOL moments, tears sometimes, happiness always. This one can be read as a standalone but i highly recommend to read all the books of the series to understand and enjoy everything. Here we learn more about Roscoe, the youngest of the Winston family. We thought we knew him but OMG he's so much more than the charming little brother. Penny gave him his own uniqueness, a choice absolutely surprising, interesting, captivating and... seriously my heart hurt for him many times. (no spoiler sorry). He's also devilishly hot hot HOT !!! And brave and selfless and yes charming too. His whole life his brothers protected him but they couldn't erase his memories... Now he's the one who tries to protect them and i loved him even more for that. He's a man, not a boy anymore. He's his own definition of perfection. Simone... is, well... different. She doesn't want to feel but she thinks a lot. I didn't feel close to her at first. Her thoughts lose me sometimes , maybe because they were going in all directions, or because she was so detached from everything. She grew on me through the pages though, with her actions more than with her words. She never gives up, she's loyal, not judgemental, amazingly brave. Between Roscoe and Simone there were a lot of miscommunication but love was always there. Their love is more powerful than their willing. Roscoe can't control himself because of the strengh of his love for Simone ans she can't stop her feelings to grow. That's just an evidence. It was a pleasure to see what happened to the Winston family (except for Billy, i was immensely surprised and i CAN'T WAIT to see him find happiness because he SOOOOOOOO deserves it!!) but that was also a pleasure to discover Simone's parents, they are funny and loving and perfect with Roscoe. As always Penny's writing is unique and brilliant. She worked on Roscoe's personnality with brio but she also brought some others interesting topics (a stupid cop for example but i can't tell you too much). This book is a MUST BE READ but the end is frustrating... I want Billy's HEA !!!!!
