James Lawless nació en Dublín y es autor de las novelas Pelando naranjas, Por amor a Anna, La avenida, Buscando a Penélope, Conociendo mujeres, Muñeca americana, y Las aventuras de Jo Jo (para niños) y un estudio de poesía moderna Despejando el bosque enredado: la poesía como una forma de ver el mundo por el cual recibió una beca en artes. Los premios que ha ganado incluyen el Concurso de Poesía Abierta Scintilla Galesa, el Premio Cecil Day Lewis y la nominación al premio SundayTribune/Hennessey. Dos de sus historias fueron nominadas para los premios Willesden Herald y Bridport. También ganó el Premio WOW y un Premio Internacional Biscuit por ficción. Su colección de poesía Rus en Urbe fue publicada por Doghouse en 2012.
