I hate everything about this book. Everything. Even down to the pretentious title. "The Rules." Let's think about this... by calling it "The Rules," what exactly is the author saying? It seems to me that they are saying that all relationships, the sequence of how a relationship forms or thrives, are all the same. It implies that all women are the same and all men are the same and that we all want the same things. It lures women in by telling them that they are strong and independent, and then negating the whole thing by saying that they need to be a certain way around men, that they need to behave a certain way and be emotionally unavailable. What ever happened to two people finding each other, being comfortable with each other, and bonding with each other in a way that works for THEM? What works for one relationship doesn't work for another. So in short, this book tells women to embrace themselves when they are giving to their community and being the strong-and-independent-types that they are, and then put all of that aside to make a man happy (... and apparently you can't have both of these things?) If you believe that following "The Rules" led you to a great relationship, ask yourself why you had to walk on eggshells in order to get there. For those who are thinking about reading this book, is that how you want to live? Do you want to be in a happy, fun, and comfortable relationship, or do you want to be worrying yourself sick thinking you're a bad girlfriend or wife because of some stupid book?

Loved the book. As a guy, is a nice insight in the minds of women, and I find it informative and hilarious at the same time.
