This publication presents an introductory study, of didactic nature, to Plautusâ Bacchides. Aspects related to the context, the characteristics, the structure and the characters of the play are discussed, as well as the problem of Plautusâ originality regarding the creation of the âthird deceptionâ
ClÃĄudia Teixeira Ê professora auxiliar do Departamento de LinguÃstica e Literaturas da Universidade de Ãvora e investigadora do Centro de Estudos ClÃĄssicos e HumanÃsticos da Universidade de Coimbra. Na sua actividade de investigaçÃŖo tem privilegiado a literatura latina, particularmente a Eneida de VirgÃlio e os romances de PetrÃŗnio e Apuleio. Neste momento, integra a equipa que estÃĄ a traduzir a Historia Augusta.
ClÃĄudia Teixeira is assistant professor at the Department of Linguistics and Literatures of the University of Ãvora and member of the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies of the University of Coimbra. Her chief research interests lie in Latin Literature, especially in Virgilâs Aeneid and in Petroniusâ and Apuleiusâ novels. She is currently working on the translation of Historia Augusta.
