About this eBook

Written by Mary Shelley (1797-1851), Frankenstein is the best-selling horror classic about an experiment that goes horribly wrong, and a monster who swears revenge on his creator. Swiss student Victor Frankenstein uncovers the secret to bringing life to what is lifeless, and in assembling body parts to create a monster, ultimately sets the stage for his own destruction and that of everything he loves when the monster is rejected by society. Penned as part of a competition between Mary Shelley, Lord Byron, and John Polidori to see who could write the best horror story, Frankenstein is resonant with themes of love, friendship, hubris, and fear. It presents the epic battle between man and monster, showing that man is not always capable of controlling that which he creates.

Mary Shelley, whom I am familiar with writes the best legacy in the book. For histories thought, this author and many more think they can apprehend Frankenstein and his wits. But I'll give one to this artist, my review honestly. The novel was touching at philosophy at most. But the characters were all drawn out and perfectly assembled. Thank you.

don't pay for this, people. You can get it free, completely legal from a bunch of websites. Feedbooks & Project Gutenberg are two good sites. Shame on Google for charging for a public domain book.

Shelley forces the reader to have an internal debate of weather or not they feel sorry for the beast or for the human they most closely identify with.

About the author

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was born on August 30, 1797, into a life of personal tragedy. In 1816, she married the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, and that summer traveled with him and a host of other Romantic intellectuals to Geneva. Her greatest achievement was piecing together one of the most terrifying and renowned stories of all time: Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. Shelley conceived Frankenstein in, according to her, “a waking dream.” This vision was simply of a student kneeling before a corpse brought to life. Yet this tale of a mad creator and his abomination has inspired a multitude of storytellers and artists. She died on February 1, 1851.
