À propos de l'auteur

Damon Knight (1922–2002) was a renowned American science fiction author, critic, and editor, whose influence on the genre remains significant. He contributed to the field not only through his written works but also by co-founding the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) and establishing the Nebula Awards. His first story, 'Resilience,' appeared in 1941, marking the beginning of a prolific career that would span more than six decades. Knight's keen eye for critique was evident in his book reviews and his widely acclaimed 'Orbit' anthology series, which showcased innovative SF stories. 'Futuria Fantasia' (1940), although lesser-known, demonstrates Knight's early interest in speculative fiction and his commitment to exploring futuristic landscapes and philosophical quandaries. His sharp wit and masterful storytelling are exemplified in works such as 'To Serve Man,' which garnered cultural fame when adapted into a 'Twilight Zone' episode. Knight's literary style often oscillated between the satirical and the somber, dissecting human nature against the vast canvas of the universe. He was awarded the SFWA Grand Master title in 1994 for his lifelong contributions to the genre. His legacy endures in the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award, named in his honor to recognize lifetime achievement in science fiction and fantasy writing.
