Yorke Norroy is a diplomatic agent — in other words, a spy — in a covert agency with few rules and full deniability from the US government, though Washington society regards him as a free-handed gadabout whose highest concern is the state of his wardrobe. He is, basically, the leader of an impossible missions force, and in this series of short episodes he chooses skilled colleagues to help him carry out elaborate operations against his country's enemies: securing secret documents, releasing political prisoners from impenetrable prisons, etc., while remaining always calm and debonair. Norroy was the subject of a silent serial in 1922, which sadly appears to be lost.
