Climate change is a major problem, generating both risks and opportunities that will have a direct impact on the economy and the financial sector. In recent years, climate change has threatened both the survival of the financial system and economic development. The growing occurrence of extreme climate events combined with the imprudent nature of economic growth can cause unsustainable levels of harm to the financial sectors. Odunayo Magret Olarewaju is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Management Accountant, a Senior Lecturer and Acting Head of Department (Management Accounting) at the Durban University of Technology, South Africa. She has obtained all her degrees in Accounting field with several local and global accolades. She has mentored many postgraduate students’ research to completion and has many other masters and doctoral students under her supervision in the area Accounting and Finance. Her research interests are Environmental Accounting, Corporate Governance, Sustainability Accounting, Financial Management, Managerial Accounting and Finance.

Idris Ganiyu is an interdisciplinary researcher with experience that spans the banking and educational sectors. He has a PhD in Human Resource Management from the prestigious University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Dr Ganiyu has published widely in indexed Journals and has presented his research papers at various Universities across the world including Harvard University. As an avid researcher, Dr Ganiyu is an external examiner for many Universities. He is regularly invited to facilitate workshops on primary data analysis and the various tools for analysing quantitative and qualitative data. He has supervised postgraduate students in Nigeria and South Africa. He is currently supervising Doctoral Students at the Management College of South Africa. Dr Ganiyu is currently a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at York St John University in the United Kingdom. [Editor]
