Loved this one! Mark was never suppose to see her again after that one night of nameless passion. But when is red haired beauty turns out to be the woman his friends at the agency have been trying to fix him up with, things get real interesting real fast. Mark has loved and lost once already and he never plans to let that happen again. He knows though, deep down, that Daisy might be the woman who could change his mind. Until he discovers Daisy is a cop. No way! He can't love another woman in a dangerous job. It wouldn't be fair to him or his young daughter. Sometimes though, the heart wants what it wants..... Definitely a recommended read! It's part of a series but easily read standalone.

Loved this book! Very sexy and fast paced romance that is swoon worthy. Mark became a single parent to a young child when his wife died while she was on deployment overseas. His heart isn't ready to take a chance on love again, so he meets his physical needs with a series of discreet one night stands. Daisy is a police officer whose fiance died one week before their wedding. She believes that he was the love of her life and that she'll never find love again, so she isn't even looking. One night, before a friend's wedding, she is sitting at the bar having a uncharacteristic drink when Mark sits down next to her. They begin talking and agree to not even use their real names. One thing leads to another, and you can guess what happens next. So, if it's predictable why did I give it five starts? Because it's just so well done. The author has mastered the romance genre and this book proves it. This is a must read for fans of the genre. While this novel is part of a series, it is a stand alone novel. The author is on my must read authors' list.

I'm in love with love and authors like Diane Alberts are the reason why. The romance genre gets a bad rep. Not believable or serious enough. Too much sex, not enough story. Totally untrue and explicitly unfair. Romance authors tackle serious issues like rape, kidnapping, emotional and physical abuse, depression and in the case of His Best Mistake, how to deal with grief and the fear of loss. Daisy has already turned one tragedy in her life into a positive. Losing her mother brutally and senselessly at a young age, put her on a path to protect innocents. As a police officer she sees herself making a difference. When she suffers yet another tragedy, she decides that her heart can't take the beating and closes herself off from love. A friend on a mission, a sexy, drunken night with a stranger and her heart just might be open for business. If she can let go of the past and he can get a handle on his fears, this may be a match made in heaven. The message: Life is too fragile to miss out on every precious moment.
