A hovertrain is a kind of high-speed train that substitutes traditional steel wheels with hovercraft lift pads. Additionally, the standard railway bed is replaced with a paved road-like surface that is known as the track or guideway. In France, Jean Bertin (1917-1975) was the first person to design a hovertrain. In France, these trains were marketed as the Aérotrain until the French government decided to terminate the project.
