About this eBook

The New York Times bestselling author of This Present Darkness and “master storyteller” (Karen Kingsbury, New York Times bestselling author) crafts a stunning thriller about a grieving husband who encounters a mysterious teen identical to his dead wife. Is this magic at work or something darker?

After a car wreck tragically claims the life of his wife and magic partner, Mandy, Dane Collins finds himself in a quaint coffee shop transfixed by a magician whose illusions even he, a seasoned professional, cannot explain. Even more mysterious is the performer herself.

Nineteen-year-old Mandy has never met him, doesn’t know him, is certainly not in love with him, but is in every respect identical to the young beauty he met and married some forty years earlier. They begin a furtive relationship as mentor and protégée, but as Dane tries to figure out who Mandy really is, the two have no idea that she is being watched by those who not only possess all the answers but who also have the power to decide her fate.

This started out a bit scifi-ish and held that theme throughout the book (which I loved being a bit of a geek myself). Those that are not accustomed to that type of read and even those that are may get a bit lost at the beginning but just pay attention and keep reading; Frank pulls it all together in as spellbinding a way as he usually does. Look forward to the next chapter you share with us. God bless you Frank.

A Pastor referred me to these books by Mr. Peretti when I was going through some stressful times on my job years ago and they gave me comfort. I have bought several of his earlier books because when I loan them out I never get them back. Now I have started my collection of his books. I hope he continue to write more books. God Bless Him Always.

A excellent story told by a master of Christian Fiction, Frank Peretti. I have been reading Frank Peretti's books since I was in high school and I believe this to be one of his best works ever. You start off in a busy Emergency Room where magician Dane Collins has just lost his wife, Mandy, in a fiery motor vehicle collision. Just as the cardiac monitor reads asystole his wife is whisked out of the room but, is she really dead? Near their recently purchased ranch in Idaho, Dane encounters a young up and coming magician named Eloise who reminds him a lot of, and looks just like a young, Mandy. Even in her mannerisms. Lurking in the distance and keeping a wary eye on Eloise are agents from a secret government program. The program they are in is based out of the hospital that Mandy died in. Through the many twists and turns, the story unfolds. Told by a master story-teller it will keep you turning page after page.
