The purpose of this book is to tell the facts that took place during the
period of preparation to immigrate and the arrival in Australia of
Simion Rete. It encompasses the story of the childhood in Berind,
memories from the lives of the parents, his marriage, details about his
children that came from Romania- along with the youngest child who
was born in Australia. Overall, it tells the story of the escape from the
communist camp and the hardships that took place in the camp in
Italy, and it concludes with the arrival to Australia. It also
encompasses memories from the initial period of getting used to life
in the west and it culminates with Simi making peace with himself
upon realizing that he had done what was best for his family when he
made the decision to leave Romania.
