ایرج پزشک زاد در تهران به دنیا آمده است. تحصیلات ابتدایی و متوسطه را در تهران و عالی را در فرانسه در رشته حقوق به انجام رسانده است. مدتی با مطبوعات با نام مستعار الف. پ.آشنا، همکاری کرده است. چند سال به سمت قاضی در دادگستری و سپس به عنوان دیپلمات تا مقام سفیری در وزارت امور خارجه ایران خدمت کرده و در کشورهای اتریش، چکسلواکی، سوییس، الجزایر ماموریت داشته است. بعد از انقلاب در فرانسه به کار تحقیق ادبی و تاریخی اشتغال دارد.
