Pat Foy leads a charmed life. She has a close-knit family, an expensive home, a passion for mystery novels, and a satisfying career as a landscape designer. Jacqueline Carey’s previous books include Good Gossip, part of which appeared in The New Yorker, and The Crossley Baby, which garnered Carey a Guggenheim Fellowship. She used to write a mystery column for Salon.com. Carey lives in Montclair, New Jersey, with her husband, the writer Ian Frazier, and their two children.
