About this ebook

She’s a temptation I just can’t resist…

My business is security. I protect other people—sometimes at my own expense.

It’s the only way to explain how I got talked into playing fake fiancé for my best friend’s little sister.

Now I’m seeing little Samantha Watson through new eyes. Instead of the little girl I used to tease, I’m up close and personal with a stunning woman whose curves and heat and heart-stopping smile rocket straight to my heart, not to mention parts south.

I’ve never minded going above and beyond for a job. Except playing the smitten lover doesn’t feel like acting anymore.

Despite all my experience, I’m the one who forgot to secure my heart.

The only rule for this job was to walk away at the end.

But maybe this time—for the first time—I’m going to break the rules.

If I'm being completely honest about my rating, I wanted to give it 3 stars but its J. Kenner so I couldn't do that. This short story came off a little elementary to me. Like it was literally thrown together by a new writer. I had an ARC preread and it has some errors but that's not even what got me. The story was just... blah! It was literally just okay. It was just enough of an entertainment to let me finish the book but I'm not affected by it.

Really enjoying this series. The author has done single POV so well I barely miss my preferred dual POV. This story is a combo brother's best friend / fake fiance trope, with a little espionage thrown in. I was really looking forward to this story, and while it probably isn't my number one ( currently the order is book 2, book 3, book 4, book 1 for me), it's still a really fun, sexy, quick read for that little personal time carved out on a weekend. Worth the less than the price of a cup of coffee $$ ;D

3.5 star review. The trope of best friend's little sister, a quick read that borders on a novella. For the timeline, this book was just the right length, providing the right amount of detail. The story flowed really well. There's chemistry, a steamy scene (which I would have liked a little more of), some action (of a non-steamy nature), and where the story takes places was a nice change from the setting of Austin. The book is entirely from the hero's perspective and there is something I can't quite put my finger on that didn't sit right with me, maybe a disconnect between characters. Either way it was still a good book. The epilogue sets up for a fifth book in the series.
