About this ebook

One week can change everything...

Private investigator Ethan James has had one too many brushes with death. But his newest case should be simple—it’s just a birth-parentssearch in stunning Lost Harbor, Alaska, helping out the local police chief. But as everyone knows, strange things happen in the tiny remotetown. From day one, everything seems to go wrong. The last straw? He suddenly has a sidekick he never expected—the super sexy, endlesslyquirky local baker.

Nothing is more important to Sweet Harbor Bakery owner Jessica Dixon than her friends—especially her BFF, Police Chief Maya Badger. When Maya has to drop a side investigation close to her heart, Jessica is determined to prove she has her back. Of course, she knows nothing about investigating. But she has her knowledge of the area, her uncanny intuition, and of course, her trusty crystal. Oh, and the help of the ridiculously gorgeous but entirely too cynical Ethan James. What could go wrong?

When these opposites attract, Jessica may come down to Earth long enough to find love, while Ethan might learn to trust his heart instead of his head...if they make it out of the wilderness alive.

Ethan James returns to Lost Harbor, Alaska for his “final” case as a private investigator. Maya Banks, police chief, enlists Ethan’s help in investigating SG’s background. Having recently had yet another brush with death, Ethan has promised his fiancé he would find a job that was a little safer. While he loves his job, he wants to make her happy. So he heads to Alaska, ends up in jail the first night, and then meets Jessica. Jessica Dixon, the owner of Lost Harbor Bakery and B&B, is in a rut. She’s never been able to make “big” decisions. The Bakery/B&B was dumped on Jessica at 18yrs old. Her mother wanted to explore Big Sur, so she left it to Jessica. It’s all she’s ever known or done. She’s never even been out of Alaska. When the opportunity arises to assist Ethan in his investigation, she jumps at the chance to try something new while avoiding a “big” decision. Jessica relies on intuition, feelings, and her favorite crystal. Ethan relies on concrete evidence, what he can see, hear, and touch. It was a story that had me laughing out loud and NEEDING to return to Alaska for another adventure! The story surrounding Kelsey left me with a lot of questions, but answered a few more about SG’s past. Jessica and Ethan couldn’t be any more different, but oh so right for each other! They are the perfect match—not soulmates according to Ethan. This is one of the best novels in the series! It captured my attention from the first page. I love how SG, aka Maggie’s, story is a common thread throughout the series. I can’t wait to learn more about Maggie and her past. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Love at First Light by Jennifer Bernard is the sixth in her Lost Harbor, Alaska, series, set in the beautiful small town edging the remote Alaskan wilderness. While it does stand alone, there are some recurring characters and a somewhat mysterious overarching storyline that encourage enjoying the whole series. Overall, Love at First Light is AMAZING. So many smiles and laughs and my heart is soaring! Couldn’t stop turning (swiping?) the pages. Jennifer Bernard's characters charmed me with their realism even when I know they're fictional. Jessica Dixon is the owner of the Lost Harbor bakery and also runs the so-called B&B. She's a woman more in tune with her intuitive side, a firm believer in Team Romance (unlike some of her friends who are clearly Team Sex), and maker of magic in the bakery kitchen. Ethan James (whose sister is the heroine in The Rock, book five of Bernard's Rockwell Legacy series), is a hard(er)-nosed PI. His life has been full of attempts to cut his time on earth short, so he firmly in the common sense camp. Ethan arrives in Lost Harbor at police chief Maya Badger's behest to work a case for her. The moment he sets foot in town, his life is a series of mishaps ranging from inconvenient to potentially life-threatening. And when Jessica appoints herself his new investigative partner, he's torn between some pesky attraction and slight skepticism at what she, a civilian, can bring to their search. What a delight to see them get to know each other and some of their layers on their literal trek, and see them come to a better shared view for them both. Love at First Light is a fantastic visit to Lost Harbor, and I can't wait to return again soon!

ARC for honest review with no compensation Love at First Light is book in the Lost Harbor, Alaska series by Jennifer Bernard and oh my each book is better than the last! Ethan James, PI comes back to Lost Harbor at the request of the police chief Maya Badger to help find SG (Spruce Grouse) missing parents. He has had lots of brushes with death and this last time it has changed him in ways he isn’t prepared for once he lands in Lost Harbor because we know, nothing is quite what it seems... Jessica Dixon, baker extraordinaire, best friend to Maya is determined to help her when she has to drop the investigation for SG’s parents. She knows nothing about investigating but extracts a commitment from Ethan to help. What happens next is...intuition, knowing the lay of the land, crystals, opposite attraction, having your back and trusting your heart will lead you to where you are supposed to be...
