In the west, as spring comes and the ground softens, Charlon sets the Magonian people to planting evenroot and preparing for the long-prophesied uprising of their Deliverer, who they believe will crush the skulls of his enemies, turn their citadels to dust, and make Magonia the ruler of nations.

These 'Kinsman chronicles' seem to have been a split book. If I had read this book without reading the others, I wouldn't have known who was who. I don't think I will read another because of that. This author is a great writer but the names all mingle into each other and if you think I am constantly going back and forwards from the original list of characters then think again. That list almost made me give up even before starting to read. It's a shame really. If it had been one big book, I would have been happy.
