The title of the book says "First-time manager"; even thought it covers most essential topics fairly thoroughly with new managers in mind, as the introduction correctly points out, it can also be used as a refresher for experienced managers. The fact that it was easy to relate to many of the topics discussed in this book, shows the practicality of this book. This book reminds the reader that at the end of the day the goal is to enjoy what we do and what matters is the attitude and how we touch other people's lives. It provides the wisdom to do just that. The book is loaded with useable and practical tips on what it takes to be a successful manager. While the importance and effectiveness of story telling in conveying a message is emphasized, the book uses this technique only in a few places. I think it helps to provide more real life experience stories throughout the book in future editions. This is a well written and informative book on the subject of people management. I recommend it.
