This report documents the Joint External Evaluation (JEE) of Malaysia's core capacities under the International Health Regulations (IHR) conducted from October 21 to 25, 2019. The evaluation aimed to assess Malaysia's ability to detect, assess, report, and respond to potential public health emergencies. With collaboration from international experts and organizations, such as WHO and OIE, the evaluation covered 19 technical areas, including legislation, antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic diseases, and emergency preparedness. The report highlights Malaysia's progress in health security, facilitated by strategic frameworks such as the Malaysia Strategy for Emerging Diseases (MySED) and the Asia Pacific Strategy for Emerging Diseases (APSED). It also outlines recommended actions to enhance Malaysia's health security capabilities. The intended audience includes policymakers, health professionals, and international health organizations.
