(2013) Im Rahmen von Knie-Operationen wurde in der analysierten Studie von Lin et al. aus dem Jahr 2013 überprüft, ob es statistisch signifikante Zusammenhänge zwischen unterschiedlichen Outcome-Messverfahren gibt. Hierfür wurden drei in der Wissenschaft häufig angewandte Outcome-Messverfahren verglichen: Zunächst wurde der EQ-5D ausgesucht, welcher ein standardisiertes präferenzbasiertes Messinstrument zur Selbsteinschätzung darstellt. Der klassische Aufbau ist eine Version mit drei Antwortausprägungen (EQ-3L). Mit dem Ziel eine höhere Sensitivität bei der Auswertung der Antworten zu erhalten, wurde auch eine fünfstufige Version entwickelt. Durch Gewichtung von Präferenzwerten erhält man nach Umrechnung einen eindimensionalen Index zum Ausdruck des persönlichen Gesundheitszustandes.
