The action is non-stop and totally unparalleled since there is a hit squad from the CIA that is determined to kill the female protagonist. Zenobia Hanley once worked for the CIA but is now a fugitive after an operation went bad. Hiding in Alaska, she meets former SEAL John Lowery. When the hit squad tracks her down, her wits and partnership with John have to keep her safe as she tries to find out why the op went bad. The intense emotions that I felt when reading this book kept my heart racing as I cheered for John and Zee but also feared for their lives. Ryker Rudin is a villain, head of the hit squad, and someone I loved to hate because he is just that evil. He didn’t even sympathize when members of his own team were injured or killed; he just stayed focused on the mission to kill Zee. The plot was well-written, with some steamy love scenes between Zee and John later in the book. There were endearing characters too, especially Zee’s daughter Olivia, a firecracker like her mom and twice as smart as any tween should be. Survival is the only option and the author trapped me with the premise and kept me captured until the end.
