He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Engineering Institute of Canada.

Derrick Wing Kwan Ng is a Lecturer in the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Communications Letters.
