About the author
Edmondo De Amicis (1846-1908) entrò a sedici anni all’Accademia militare di Modena, dove divenne ufficiale. Nel 1866 partecipò alla battaglia di Custoza e quando lasciò l’esercito divenne inviato per “La Nazione” di Firenze. Nel 1886 l’editore Treves pubblicò Cuore, che ebbe subito un grande successo, tanto che De Amicis divenne lo scrittore più letto d’Italia.
