Peculiar because of that funny synergy that unites the town and the lake. Without this curious synergy, the town would not exist. Yet without it, the lake would not exist. How do we separate the lake from the town or the town from the lake without inflicting mutual damage to both? This reminds us of that beauty from W.B. Yeats: How can we know the dancer from the dance?

Emmanuel Egar is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He has a Ph.D. in English and a Ph.D in Higher Education. He is the author of The Rhetorical Implications of Things Fall Apart, Black Women Poets of Harlem Renaissance, and The Poetics of Rage.
