I did not like this book. While the concept is great (a collection of stories about those who have walked the AT), and the TOC and chapters seem to lay out a logical order, the writing is not cohesive. Chronologically, the stories jump around even from one paragraph to the next. Stories and accounts jump around in ways that make it very hard to follow. People are brought up in multiple chapters/stories with no reference to them having been in previous accounts. There's no investment in any of the stories. Just some facts, some quotes, and onto the next. A few of the chapters/accounts provide some useful information or context, but mostly it's just a long string of short, unconnected, accounts told at a very superficial level.
