About the author

Lars Larsson, a naval architect, is Professor of Hydrodynamics at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. He is also president of Flowtech International and was for 18 years a scientist at SSPA Maritime Consulting. He has written 100 papers on computational fluid dynamics and has taught both academic and public courses on yacht design. A lifelong sailor, he has been a consultant to the Swedish Olympic Sailing Team and three America's Cup teams. Rolf Eliasson, a yacht design/construction engineer specializing in boat structures, runs his own design company for both production and custom boats. More than 400 boats have been built from his designs in the past 25 years. He was among the pioneers in using computer design, and has built six boats himself. Since 1990 he has served on various working groups setting ISO standards for yacht stability, safety, and scantlings for the European Union.
