I've never read any of the Pathfinder Tales books, and I'm usually bad at focusing on a book long enough to get more than a few pages in, but the author of this book managed to keep my interest long enough to get me invested in the story. Having only ever finished a few novels in my life, that's about as big of a recommendation as I can give.

LIANE MERCIEL is the author of two previous Pathfinder Tales novels, Nightglass and Nightblade, as well as Dragon Age: Last Flight for Tor and two creator-owned novels, Heaven's Needle and The River King's Road.
