About this ebook

“Gripping, gutting, and beautifully gothic.” - Lindsey Sparks, bestselling author of the Echo Trilogy

A broody landowner. A feisty governess armed with a fire-poker. A mysterious manor beyond a gritty, reimagined London.

Centuries ago, the skies turned black, and for 300 years, Londoners survived in the dank, underground tunnels of the city. Until one day, a stranger from a faraway land offered to save them. Though it wasn’t without cost . . . and he has come to collect.

When Selene is taken to Master Blackburn’s infamous estate, she fears she and the orphans she’s sworn to protect will meet a gruesome end, like so many others before them. But the beastly landowner is not all there is to fear, and Selene soon learns nothing in Briarwood is as it seems.

Travel beyond the City of Ruin, through the secret passageways and haunted woods, to a land shrouded in secrets in this atmospheric retelling of Jane Eyre and Beauty and the Beast.

This is the first book in the richly imagined Ruined Lands, a collection of historical fantasy and dystopian fairy tale retellings. Ruined Lands is a Forgotten Lands sister series.

RUINED LANDS:

City of Ruin

Sea of Storms

Land of Fury

FORGOTTEN LANDS sister series:

Dust and Shadow

Earth and Ember

Tide and Tempest

Borne of Sand and Scorn (prequel novella)

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off - a suspenseful and grungy, dystopian adventure. An intriguing new sub-genre for my much loved, end-of-the-world adventures. Lindsey has created a rich, crumbling dystopian world, filled with characters battling for survival, edgy personalities and a love story that pulls you in for the grand finale. Absolutely thrilling start to this new series. Cannot wait to see where she takes us next!

Lindsey Pogue is an amazing author and I love all the books I've read. This one also doesn't fail to please either. This story is heartfelt and the characters are everything you'd want them to be ... and more. Selene's mom dies ... the brother steps in to keep her safe from the dastardly dad. Still, life isn't the best for Selene, and in steps ... The Collector. That name alone should instill fear into anyone! Great characters. Edge-of-your-seat reading.

I loved this book! It drew me in from the beginning. From the desolation of the ruined world to the despair and hope of the characters, City of Ruin was an adventure. I loved learning about Selene and the Collector, and their backgrounds are well thought out to explain their personalities. I would definitely recommend this to everyone!

About the author

Lindsey Pogue is a genre-bending fiction author, best known for her soul-stirring survival adventures and timeless love stories. As an avid romance reader with a master’s in history and culture, Lindsey’s series cross genres and push boundaries, weaving together facts, fantasy, and romance set in rich, sweeping landscapes of epic proportions.

She’s a dyslexic, taco-loving nature girl who enjoys sunsets, bonfires, and a nice cold gin lemonade on a warm summer night. When she’s not plotting her next storyline, or dreaming up new, brooding characters, Lindsey is wrapped in blankets watching monster flicks with her own leading man. She and her husband live in Northern California with their rescue cats, Beast and Blue.

“[Lindsey] mastered what it is to be human, and the connections we build with one another.” - Amazon (Author Unpublished)
