About this eBook

One week can change everything...

Private investigator Ethan James has had one too many brushes with death. But his newest case should be simple—it’s just a birth-parentssearch in stunning Lost Harbor, Alaska, helping out the local police chief. But as everyone knows, strange things happen in the tiny remotetown. From day one, everything seems to go wrong. The last straw? He suddenly has a sidekick he never expected—the super sexy, endlesslyquirky local baker.

Nothing is more important to Sweet Harbor Bakery owner Jessica Dixon than her friends—especially her BFF, Police Chief Maya Badger. When Maya has to drop a side investigation close to her heart, Jessica is determined to prove she has her back. Of course, she knows nothing about investigating. But she has her knowledge of the area, her uncanny intuition, and of course, her trusty crystal. Oh, and the help of the ridiculously gorgeous but entirely too cynical Ethan James. What could go wrong?

When these opposites attract, Jessica may come down to Earth long enough to find love, while Ethan might learn to trust his heart instead of his head...if they make it out of the wilderness alive.

I loved Ethan and Jessica’s love story in Love at First Light by Jennifer Bernard, book six in her Lost Harbor, Alaska series. PI Ethan James had one too many brushes with death but this latest one is supposed to be a piece of cake; help the police chief in beautiful Lost Harbor, Alaska with a birth-parents search. But everyone knows strange things happen in this remote town. From the day Ethan arrives, everything seems to go wrong. Getting an unexpected assistant, the super sexy, quirky local baker is just one more wrong strange happening. The only thing more important to Jessica Dixon than owning Sweet Harbor Bakery, are her friends, especially her best friend Police Chief Maya Badger. When a family emergency forces Maya to drop a side investigation that is important and dear to her, Jessica decides to use her Nancy Drew skills and help Ethan. She might have investigative skills but she knows the area like the back of her hand, has a fairly accurate intuition, and then there’s her trusty crystal which has never steered her wrong. Having these two opposites work together, fitting together like pieces of a puzzle, should mean nothing will go wrong. As I said, strange things happen in Lost Harbor, so of course anything that can go wrong does until Jessica learns to trust herself and Ethan learns to trust his heart. Now to make sure that once they survive this wild search in the wilderness that these two realize their true feelings. Ms. Bernard wrote an amazing, emotional, humorous, and magical story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with kindness, magnetic attraction, off the charts chemistry, amusing conversations, and endearing characters, with the help of a little magic, pushing Jessica and Ethan out of their comfort zones and finding a forever love. I highly recommend Love at First Light to other readers and can’t wait for the next story in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Ethan James returns to Lost Harbor, Alaska for his “final” case as a private investigator. Maya Banks, police chief, enlists Ethan’s help in investigating SG’s background. Having recently had yet another brush with death, Ethan has promised his fiancé he would find a job that was a little safer. While he loves his job, he wants to make her happy. So he heads to Alaska, ends up in jail the first night, and then meets Jessica. Jessica Dixon, the owner of Lost Harbor Bakery and B&B, is in a rut. She’s never been able to make “big” decisions. The Bakery/B&B was dumped on Jessica at 18yrs old. Her mother wanted to explore Big Sur, so she left it to Jessica. It’s all she’s ever known or done. She’s never even been out of Alaska. When the opportunity arises to assist Ethan in his investigation, she jumps at the chance to try something new while avoiding a “big” decision. Jessica relies on intuition, feelings, and her favorite crystal. Ethan relies on concrete evidence, what he can see, hear, and touch. It was a story that had me laughing out loud and NEEDING to return to Alaska for another adventure! The story surrounding Kelsey left me with a lot of questions, but answered a few more about SG’s past. Jessica and Ethan couldn’t be any more different, but oh so right for each other! They are the perfect match—not soulmates according to Ethan. This is one of the best novels in the series! It captured my attention from the first page. I love how SG, aka Maggie’s, story is a common thread throughout the series. I can’t wait to learn more about Maggie and her past. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Laugh Out Loud Funny – Jennifer Bernard Rocks! Love at First Light by Jennifer Bernard might be my favorite Lost Harbor book, second only to the first in the series, Mine Until Moonrise. Ethan James takes his third case in Lost Harbor. Police Chief Maya Badger hired (maybe) Ethan to find out more about S.G. (Spruce Grouse), the mysterious young woman who showed up in Mine Until Moonrise. Maya has a family emergency to deal with after promising S.G. she would investigate S.G.’s past. Because Maya doesn’t want to disappoint S.G., Maya asks Ethan to take over and find out about S.G.’s parents. Since no details on payment have been discussed, Maya gives Ethan a certificate to stay at the Sweet Harbor Bakery and B&B owned by Jessica Dixon, who most people think lives in a cloud with her crystal. Very definitely opposites, sparks flare up immediately between Ethan and Jessica. Let the fun begin! I laughed out loud all through this book. Maybe snorted a few times, too. These two entertain as they worked out their differences, or at least the differences they thought they had, and learned who they really were as individuals. Definitely not who they thought they were. This book started off with a bang and the fun didn’t stop until the end. One of the best prologues and first chapters I’ve ever read. And I like the way the author snuck in a serious current issue regarding Maya. As always, I learned so much more about Alaska. Ethan’s and Jessica’s trek made me realize I’d never make it in the Alaskan wilderness. Well, unless I had my own Ethan. Oh, wait. It was Jessica who saved the day and got them to civilization. I cannot wait until Maya’s story, coming up next. Everyone should read Love at First Light. Jennifer Bernard rocks!
