About the author

LYNETTE ROHRER SHIRK is a classically trained chef (butcher, baker), entrepreneur (candlestickmaker), and author of nine cookery books. She was educated at the Ohio State University (BA- Classics); and California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. Lynette has toiled in the kitchens of Chez Panisse, Wolfgang Puck's Postrio, Bizou, Stars and Williams-Sonoma corporate headquarters. Lynette loves candy so much that she launched her own website and company: Volcano Candy, featuring her coffee bean candy "Java Lava". Her glass grape earings have been featured in Bon Appetit magazine and several California Wine Country boutiques. She makes foodie wax sculptures that look like lattes, sweet and sour pork, canned cranberry sauce, and cappuccinos. She is currently learning how to plaster walls with the same techniques used to frost a cake. Lately Lynette has been teaching culinary classes based on recipes from her books Wild Women Throw a Party (Conari Press) and The Mother Daughter Cookbook (Orange Ave.) at Lake Austin Spa and Central Market in Austin, Texas. She will soon reside in Seattle.
